Malawi’s remaining three representatives in the Voice Africa—a television showcase for Africa’s top vocal talent—said they are set for the showdown and eye the grand prize.
The three— Esther Chitheka-Lewis, Taonga Kanthungo and Nathaniel Chalu— are set to travel to Nigeria for the final.
In an interview, Chitheka-Lewis rated the journey as exciting.
“We have been challenged. We have rehearsed and what is exciting is that Malawi is still there with three representatives,” she said.
The trio has sailed through a competitive storm under the coaching and mentorship of renowned international artists including Awilo Longomba, Locko and Lady Jaydee.

Airtel Malawi Head of Brand, Public Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility Norah Chavula Chirwa called on Malawians to support the three who, she said, are carrying the country’s flag.
“They have represented us well and we are just wishing them all the best. We just want to encourage people to watch the competition every Sunday. People should also watch the space for our announcement of exciting things,” she said.
The winner is expected to walk away with a grand prize of $100,000 (approximately K103 million), and a record contract with EmPawa music.
