After disappearing from the scene for some time, Winter Ankara Fashion Expo (Wafe), a fashion exhibition, is set to return to the streets of Blantyre on September 30 2023.
And in showing their seriousness ahead of the event, the organisers recently held a Wafe23 Pre Event Mixer at Kwaharaba Art Gallery and Café in Blantyre.
Wafe Communications Director Sharon Kadangwe described the pre-event as a success and that they managed to showcase collections by Terry Made and CCLXV, who will also showcase at the main event.
“There is so much we are offering this year and those who came to the pre-event will attest that we are geared. We had music from DJ Hype and Joshua Chuma, karaoke and a martial arts performance,” Kadangwe said.
She also revealed that they have formalised their partnership with Blantyre Farmers Market.

“On 30 September 2023, Wafe and Blantyre Farmers Market will host a market day before the fashion show in the evening. We are calling upon vendors, companies and brands related to fashion, tourism and culture to book a stall,” Kadangwe said.
She said this was their first pre-event this year and that, through it, they wanted to give people a taste of what to expect on September 30 2023.
“This year, our theme is ‘Fashion Tourism’ and it is all about showing everything that is marketable about Malawian fashion and culture,” Kadangwe said.
Recently, Wafe announced that they joined forces with Zomba Arts Platform for a collaborative event in Blantyre with the aim of bringing together the worlds of fashion and art and creating a unique and immersive experience for attendees.
