Castel Challenge Cup champions Mighty Mukuru Wanderers are on the verge of signing Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos striker Promise Kamwendo.
Kamwendo nearly joined the club during the mid-season transfer window but the Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Players Status Committee halted the deal saying Wanderers flouted player transfer procedures.
The talented striker is expected to join Wanderers as a free agent as his contract with Dedza expired Tuesday.
Kamwendo was spotted in Blantyre during the team’s Castel Challenge Cup parade.

However, Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Panganeni Ndovi downplayed the presence of the player.

“Some fans met him in Ndirande and persuaded him to join the parade,” Ndovi said.
We have established that Kamwendo will be unveiled as a Wanderers player today.
He could be the first player to join the club during the off-season break.
Kamwendo was at the centre of controversy after he agreed to join both Wanderers and their rivals FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.

He was then unveiled as a Wanderers player but the deal was halted.
In September last year, the Fam Player Status Committee ordered Kamwendo to refund the K6 million signing-on-fee he got from Wanderers after signing a three-year contract.
The committee also fined Dedza K3 million.
