Nyago, who draws her musical inspiration from Vimbuza, a healing traditional dance well-known in the Northern Region, said on Tuesday that she was excited to be part of the festival which runs from December 8 to 10, 2023.
Nyago, real name Lucy Gondwe, said the organisers have met everything for her performance in Zanzibar and they include flight tickets, accommodation, and local transport.
“Apart from this, they have also arranged a band that I will perform live with. The band is called Sinaubi Zawose. I feel greatly honoured for this. This encourages me to keep on working hard and put Vimbuza and Malawi on the world map,” she said.
The Lilongwe-based musician, who describes music for her as a calling, leaves for the festival on December 6 2023.
