Mighty Mukuru Wanderers coach Mark Harrison believes his side can challenge for the TNM Super League title in the 2024 season.
Harrison’s comments come after the Nomads were pushed out of the title race following FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ 1-0 win over Karonga United at Karonga Stadium on Wednesday.
With the victory, Bullets are almost assured of retaining the title they have been winning over the past four seasons. The new title will be their 17th overall.
The defending champions have 59 points, three above second-placed Silver Strikers heading into the final day of the season on Sunday when the two engage in a crunching tie at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
Wanderers are third with 55 points from 29 matches and they lie four points behind Bullets.

Their only hope will be a second-place finish but that can only happen if they beat Civil Service United at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday and Silver lose to Bullets.
However, Harrison said he can draw several positives from the team’s performance this season.
’’We are in transition as a football club on and off the field. We have made good progress and closed the gap with Bullets on the log table. This gives us the championship is possible next season. We did not get it wrong and we have moved in the right direction. belief that winning the league
“But we lacked firepower upfront for the better part of the season and missed two many scoring opportunities. But we have the best defensive record in the league. This means we are on the right track,’’ he said.

With one match to go, the Nomads have conceded 15 goals and scored 40 in the top flight league.
Silver are the second team with the best defensive record having conceded 17 goals whereas Bullets have let in 18.
Former Malawi National Football Team defender Moses Chavula said Wanderers and Silver have themselves to blame for failing to capitalise on Bullets’ shortcomings.
“Both Silver and Wanderers were inconsistent. They failed to capitalise on Bullets, weaknesses.
Again, they had many off-the-field problems and these derailed their campaign,’’ Chavula said.
Not all is lost for the Nomads as they still have a chance to win the Castel Challenge Cup where they are in the quarterfinals.
They are also still in the Airtel Top 8 Cup but must work hard to overturn a 2-0 first leg defeat to Silver with a semifinal slot at stake.
The loss follows a Football Association of Malawi Competitions Committee determination of an abandoned match which saw the Nomads protesting Silver’s second goal when the teams were tied at 1-1.
However, the matter is yet to be resolved after Wanderers lodged an appeal.
