Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) League Simama and Sons (Simso)- Innobuild Premier Division side Baka City is on the verge of earning TNM Super League promotion after opening a five point gap at the top of the table with three matches remaining to wrap up the league.
Baka have 25 points from 11 matches whereas second-placed Kadona Stars have 20 points from the same number of fixtures.
The Karonga-based side’s coach Davie Muyombe said his target is to collect maximum points from every match.
“Of course, we just need five points to win the championship but we are working hard to win all our remaining matches. We are remaining with Ekwendeni United and Embangweni United in away matches and Mayamiko Stars at Karonga Stadium. So we will continue fighting until the last game.
“Our target is to win the league with 34 points but we know it will be a tough task because the remaining matches are quite tricky. But we are determined to do it. We want to win the title with a record number of points; so, we will not relax.

“We have been title contenders for several seasons and we are now ready,” Muyombe said.
However, NRFA General Secretary Masiya Nyasulu advised Baka to avoid complacency, saying the title is still open.
“It is an entertaining season, with teams doing their best to earn Super League promotion. Of course, Baka City has an upper hand but, in football, anything can happen.
“Therefore, they should not relent because if they lose all their remaining games and Kadona win all, the title will go to Nkhata Bay. So Baka should keep on fighting since they are playing two away games against strong teams,” Nyasulu said.
