Civil Service United have mutually agreed to part ways with coach Oscar Kaunda.
Kaunda was reassigned to other responsibilities within the club in September following the team’s poor string of results in the TNM Super League.
However, he has stayed close to four months without being given the responsibility.
The two parties held a meeting on Monday in Lilongwe.
In an interview Tuesday, Kaunda said he was happy that the club has released him.

“We have finally agreed to part ways. I would like to thank the club for everything they did for me. I wish them all the best,’’ Kaunda said.
The development means Civil are free to appoint his replacement ahead of the 2024 season.
Abasi Makawa was named interim coach until the end of the season and managed to save the club from relegation.
Civil General Secretary Edgar Chipalanjira confirmed that they reached an agreement with Kaunda.

“He is no longer with us. We appreciate what he has done for the club,” Chipalanjira said.
Kaunda signed a three-year contract following the departure of veteran mentor Franco Ndawa.
He had two years remaining on his contract. Kaunda has been in and out of Civil since he ventured into coaching.
He had stints with Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Karonga United before returning to Civil.
Apart from Wanderers and Karonga, Kaunda coached Kabwafu United.
