The country’s flag carriers in the Caf Champions League FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will Tuesday afternoon know which opponents they will face in the preliminary round of the continental showpiece.
A total of 54 teams from 42 member associations will be following the draw keenly as it happens in Cairo, Egypt.
Bullets Chief Administration Officer Albert Chigoga said they are ready to face any opponent to break the jinx, having been stumbling in the preliminary round for the past four years.
“We are pretty aware that a team from the Cosafa region is a must because of the format of the draw. We are expecting teams from Tanzania, Mozambique, South Africa, Namibia, Seychelles, Zimbabwe, Botswana or Zambia. It is our wish to go past the preliminary round this time around. We cannot avoid anybody at this stage. We just have to be ready,” he said.
Football analyst Roy Abramo M’dechi advised Bullets to beef up the squad ahead of the new campaign.

“We must commend them for showing character in Africa’s biggest cup for the past four years. Actually, they are leading the TNM Super League table but I feel they need some two experienced players, one upfront and another in the middle, to beef up their squad,” the former general secretary for defunct Masters Security said.
Another analyst Kevin Moyo shared the sentiments.
“If you consider the number of goals Bullets have scored in the past four years in this competition, which is four or five, you will agree with me that they need a proper number to utilise chances. They need a proven striker, a number nine, who can score a goal or two goals at least in every game they play.
“They need to invest a lot in the team just like what Yanga of Tanzania did last year. They poached a striker from DRC and they reached the final of the Cup Winners Cup. This is what Bullets must do if they are to do better,” Moyo said.

Egyptian giants Al Ahly are the holders of the Caf Champions League after they beat Moroccan outfit Wydad.
Bullets have failed to go beyond the preliminary round for the past four seasons.
In 2015, Bullets booted out Fomboni FC of Comoros before getting knocked out by Al Hilal of South Sudan.
The People’s Team were booted out in 2018 by Kenyan giants Gor Mahia before they went out to Platinum Stars of Zimbabwe the following year.
In 2021, Bullets were knocked out by DStv Premier Soccer League side Amazulu.
Last year, Bullets failed to progress after losing to Tanzanian giants Simba.
