First Capital Bank (FCB) has contributed K100 million towards the 2023 Presidential Charity Golf Tournament slated for October 7 at Lilongwe Golf Club.
The bank announced the sponsorship package during a ceremony aimed at unveiling it as the tournament’s main sponsor.
The ceremony took place at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe Tuesday.
The partnership between the tournament and the bank is themed ‘Swing to Serve’.

The ceremony was graced by President Lazarus Chakwera, who hailed FCB for the sponsorship, assuring that the money would be used for the intended purpose.

“The bank’s generosity and dedication to making a difference in the lives of our fellow citizens are commendable. It is through partnerships like these that we can truly make a lasting impact on our society,’’ Chakwera said.
Proceeds of the tournament will be channeled to survivors of Cyclone Freddy to help them rebuild their lives and communities.
The funds will also be used for supporting needy students at some of the country’s universities.
FCB Chief Executive Officer Agness Jazza said the bank felt duty-bound to complement the government’s development efforts in education, health and sports.

“These are our key focus areas for corporate social responsibility.
“We sponsor the Presidential Golf Charity initiative with a sense of duty and purpose. We pledge K100 million to support underprivileged students and victims of tropical cyclones. This donation represents not just a financial contribution but a symbol of our enduring commitment to the well-being of our communities,’’ Jazza said.
During the ceremony, Jazza also presented an FCB Nyasa Big Bullets jersey to Chakwera.
Golf Union of Malawi President and organising committee chairperson Gift Gondwe also hailed FCB for the sponsorship.
“This is a very commendable gesture. Our appeal to companies, organisations and individuals is that they should emulate FCB’s example. We all need to contribute towards such good causes,’’ Gondwe said.
He said they have, so far, raised over K200 million out of the targeted K400 million.
