Football Legends Association (FLA) has said all is set for its Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for July 26 in Lilongwe.
The body has since managed to raise K29 million out of the required K30 million.
FLA board chairperson Jim Kalua said the meeting will help them to actualize their plans of becoming financially independent by next year.
“We will involve all the stakeholders such as Malawi National Council of Sports, Super League of Malawi, MedHealth, Football Association of Malawi and Ministry of Sports, among others.
“This is the right time for us to take stock of what we have done since 2022 and what we plan to achieve in the next five years. We also plan to give a detailed financial report to all our members on how we have used the funds and new business ideas we want to explore, just to mention a few,” Kalua said.

He said FLA has over 165 paid up members and recently went into multiple partnerships with firms such as Ebenezer Investment which offers training in embroidery, graphic design and screen printing.

“This initiative aims at equiping our football legends with valuable lifelong skills that can help them generate sustainable income beyond their football careers. The collaboration aligns with one of our key strategic objectives of promoting long-term livelihood sustainability after football. In return, the legends will also support Ebenezer Investment’s visibility and branding efforts.
A football analyst, Dyson Musa, hailed the association for demonstrating maturity in football administration which he said is lacking in many administrators.
“This is an organization which has just clocked three years but is now fully-fledged. It has an administrative team housed under one roof at Bingu National Stadium, complete with audited accounts and has managed to put over 40 legends on medical full cover.

This is a hallmark of an association that dreams in colour. I will therefore not be surprised to see it becoming financially independent soon,” Musa said.
