Malawi National Football Team goalkeeper Brighton Munthali and striker Chawanangwa Kaonga have been ruled out for a minimum of three weeks due to injuries.
Both players sustained injuries during the dead-rubber Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Guinea, which ended in a 2-2 stalemate at Bingu National Stadium on Saturday.
Munthali was replaced at half time, after sustaining a thigh injury, by Clever Mkungula whereas Kaonga sustained a knee injury.

Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Technical Manager James Sangala confirmed the development Monday.
“Brighton is expected to miss [action for] three weeks, according to recommendations from the team doctor. As for Kaonga, it will take at least three weeks,” Sangala said.

Kaonga was seen in a Plaster of Paris (Pop) Monday.
The injuries could be a big setback for both players.
However, both Munthali and Kaonga are expected to return to their respective clubs for further assessment.
Munthali, who joined Black Leopards from Blue Eagles, had a grand game in the first half as he denied Guinea goal-scoring opportunities on three occasions.

Kaonga, who recently extended his contract with Zambian side Zanaco for two years, also had a grand game.
His manager, Fred Kalonga, admitted that the injury is a setback.
“We hope that it is not serious but he is expected to return to his club for further assessment,” Kalonga said.
Kaonga has started well at Zanaco this season, having scored in a 1-1 draw with Muza FC recently.
Last season, Kaonga scored three goals for the Zambian club, having joined from Silver Strikers
