The Malawi Stock Exchange (MSE) has challenged chartered financial analysts in the country to use their knowledge in helping the country achieve the financial inclusion agenda and grow the economy.
The call was made at the weekend during the ceremony where the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFAs) Society- South Africa was celebrating 10 CFAs who have been added to about 60 which Malawi has.
MSE Chief Executive Officer John Kamanga said the financial market relies heavily on the professionals who provide sound advice for sound investments by firms and individuals.
Kamanga added that the sector has great potential to contribute to national development but is underutilised because people are not aware of the opportunities.
“The coming in of these charter holders is a welcome development, especially in the financial sector,” Kamanga said.

CFA Society South Africa Board Member Thomas Chataika said the certified analysts have gone through rigorous training in financial analysis and welcomed a call that they should help to build the Malawi economy.
“These charter holders can understand the markets across the world including Malawi. Therefore, they can advise on investment in any country and we hope that they will heavily help to grow Malawi,” Chataika said.
Founded in 1947, the CFA Institute is a global organisation that provides education to investment professionals.
