Mangolongondo Night turned on the lights for the 2026 schedule on Friday as it hosted musicians Goma Nyondo, Samax, Danil and Zisekese Band at Kwaharaba Art Gallery and Café in Blantyre.
This was the first of the concerts, laying the foundation for Mangolongondo Night, which is held on the last Friday of every month.
Mangolongondo Night is driven by a number of players and hosted by renowned actor and contemporary dancer Roberto Magasa.
Music lovers showed up for the concert and enjoyed the performances, dancing and singing along to the tracks—with Goma opening the proceedings before Samax, Danil and Zisekese Band closed the curtain.
On a serene night, Goma dished out a number of songs, including ‘Sowela’, in a one-act performance that saw him interacting with patrons at will.

Armed with his guitar, the husky-voiced musician, who is also a member of Mibawa Band, had a moment to dish out the cover song ‘Todii’ of Zimbabwean star Oliver Mtukudzi.
The musician bowed out when the stage was lively, with Samax, Danil and Zisekese Band breathing in more life.
Samax led the act as a lead vocalist, with the performance dragging patrons to the dance floor.
The performance resonated well with patrons, as Samax, Danil and Zisekese Band delivered a number of cover songs from, among others, Lulu, Soldier Lucius Banda and Giddes Chalamanda.

“It has been a great night. Patrons were active throughout. This is the first show for us this year and we, as organisers, are happy to start our schedule on a high note,” Magasa said.
