Masintha CCAP Chitsitsimutso Women Choir on Sunday celebrated their 35th anniversary at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
The group, which has been in the limelight in recent times, with their 2023 track ‘Takulandirani’ enjoying airplay in different platforms, delivered a power-packed performance at the concert. Offering a number of songs off their projects, it was, again, ‘Takulandirani’ which dictated affairs.
Patrons sang along to the track, which the choir created as one way of welcoming visitors to a women’s assembly at Masintha CCAP Church two years ago. Despite being long overdue, the song has turned into an anthem this year. Led by Judith Dzonzi, the choir, which also starred at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe on Thursday, promised to continue ministering the word of God through music.
Apart from ‘Takulandirani’, the group’s music menu included ‘Suli Wekha’ and ‘Mbuye Ndamva’, which were warmly received. Dzonzi, whose singing has melted many gospel music lovers, could not hide her excitement with the support they received during the celebration.

“We thank God for the journey to be where we are today. We will continue to serve God through music and it is such a great thing to sing for the Lord,” she said. As frontrunners, Masintha CCAP Chitsitsimutso Choir left no stone unturned in their set.
The event saw Masintha CCAP Chitsitsimutso Choir fetching millions of Kwacha through the sale of flash disks of their music, with Minister of Foreign Affairs Nancy Tembo coughing K2 million whereas United Kingdom-based Fanny Chazima paid K1 million. “I am excited to be part of the choir’s 35th anniversary celebration. Their music is more than entertainment,” Tembo said.
Other acts that spiced up the 35th anniversary celebration included Kafita CCAP Choir, Ndirande Anglican Voices, Kamuzu Barracks Gospel Singers and Kondwani Chirwa.
