Fifteen models on Saturday cruised to the grand finale of the Mzinda Lifestyle Fashion Show following their success during the elimination round.
Twenty-eight models showed up for the contest.
The 15 models that have made it include Yemis Nzoma, Properine Msongwe, Sharon Matewere, Zura Amisi and Joel Neema.
“I was nervous but I am happy that I am one of the finalists. I am looking forward to the grand finale,” Matewere said.

The judging panel, which included fashion designer Snikiwe Chasweka, selected the 15 models after a tense round of performances.
Chasweka, who is last year’s Miss Malawi finalist, praised the contestants for their efforts during the competition.
She was quick to point out that most of them needed to undergo proper professional training.
“If we are to raise the standards and grow, then we need proper institutions to train these models. Otherwise, most of them are self-taught,” she said.

One of the designers, Isabel King of Isa Fashion House, described the show as exciting.
“We saw potential in the models and creativity with beautiful designs.
“However, the show also exposed challenges we face, especially that related to the high cost of materials,” King said.
Mzinda Lifestyle Executive Producer Chris Kunda Daka said the elimination round lived up to its billing.
“It has been a remarkable experience. The models prepared for a month and the designers [prepared] for two months,” Daka said.
The 15 models will join 10 international models at the grand finale, to be held on June 7 at Golden Peacock Hotel in Lilongwe.
Some of the designers that participated in the event included Emem Designs, Woove Designs, TIM Works, Auzease and Isa Fashion House.
The elimination show was spiced up by music performances from Amidu Ellan, Yankho, Joe Kellz and Movers Band, featuring members from Brazil and Malawi.
