Malawi’s Under-23 Queen Cubs continued on their impressive run in the 2026 Telkom Netball League, registering their sixth victory in seven matches after a commanding 73-29 win over Tshukudu during Power Week 1 in Durban Friday.
Their participation comes following an invitation from Netball South Africa to include regional teams in a bid to enhance competitiveness and promote the growth of netball across Africa.
The Queen Cubs’ involvement in the league forms part of a wider initiative aimed at strengthening Malawi’s netball development pipeline by exposing emerging players to high-level international competition.
From the first whistle, the Malawian side dictated the tempo of the game, with Tshukudu struggling to match their intensity, accurate passing and clinical finishing.

The opening quarter set the foundation for the victory as the Queen Cubs stormed to a 20-2 lead stretching the advantage to 36-9 at halftime.
After the restart, the Queen Cubs remained in control, extending their lead to 58-18 by the end of the third quarter.
With the result already beyond doubt, they managed the final quarter professionally to complete a convincing 73-29 triumph.
Mphatso Banda once again stood out, earning the Player of the Match award for the second straight game.
