NBS Bank and the Football Association of Malawi (Fam) have announced an increased sponsorship package worth K530 million for the 2026- 27 NBS Bank National Division League (NDL), up from K320 million in the inaugural season.
This season’s champion is set to walk away with a grand prize of K25 million while the runner-up and third-place finishers will receive K12.5 million and K7.5 million, respectively.
Speaking at Mpira Village in Blantyre Wednesday, NBS Bank Head of Marketing Frank Magombo said each team would receive a K20 million subvention and K92.2 million for equipment, including two sets of uniforms and six match balls per team.
“The increased investment is aimed at raising football standards in Malawi while also promoting financial inclusion in remote areas through [the provision of] accessible banking services,” he said.

Fam Executive Committee member Daud Mtanthiko said the expanded funding would provide greater financial stability for clubs and improve the overall professional quality of the competition.
“The NDL continues to serve as the vital bridge to the FDH Bank Premiership. Following the success of the inaugural season, which saw Red Lions being crowned champions, the league has become a proven platform for unearthing raw talent from across Malawi’s districts,” he said.
The event also recognised outstanding media coverage of the 2025-26 NBS Bank National Division League season.
In print, Ronald Mpaso of The Times Group was named Best Reporter.
