The relocation of the Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) headquarters from Lilongwe to Blantyre may be more complicated than initially anticipated, with the government likely to continue paying rentals for office space for the electoral body in Blantyre.
This follows correspondence from the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, which formally requested Mec to provide details of its relocation plans following a presidential directive ordering selected government institutions to move from Lilongwe to other cities.
