Celebrated poet Robert Chiwamba has challenged fellow creatives to be thinking outside the box.
Chiwamba spoke highly of collaborations among creatives of different disciplines in reference to his continued partnership with musician Sangie.
The Poetry Association of Malawi (Pam) President has advanced the music and poetry correlation by working on his sixth album, in which he celebrates his 15th anniversary.
The thank-you-poetry-and-music-hymns album, titled Evangelist Shadreck Wame, will be released on August 3 2026, three days after he will have celebrated the 15th poetry anniversary.
“The entertainment landscape has changed. To stay relevant, you need to be creative, try as much collaboration as possible to bring in a fresh perspective,” he said.

The award-winning poet said his working with Sangie had helped him tap into her fans and, at the same time, learn from her creative process.
“She has been a blessing to my poetry career. We have done a whole album now; that is, eight songs and two poems,” Chiwamba, famed for poems such as ‘Uzafa Imfa Yowawa’, said.
The two created rapport during a 2018 ‘Ngwazi Zazikazi’ project, a duet that celebrates women who are bold for change, which emerged the overall winner of European Union (EU) Devco Communications Award.
He said Sangie was talented and great at teamwork.

“It is a blessing to work with her,” Chiwamba said.
Sangie said yesterday that her connection with Chiwamba had introduced her to a new audience, the poetry one.
“These are people who do not just follow the beat, but mind. It is definitely a plus for me,” the ‘Mayi Wangwiro’ star said.
Meanwhile, Chiwamba has released ‘Chikondano’ off the new album. The track dropped yesterday.
Chiwamba debuted with Chanco Mu Nthawi Yanga, following it up with Kwa Mayi Chiwamba and Kuchokera Ku Chanco ndi Kachirombo.
