The Malawi Women’s National Football Team fairytale continued yesterday when they reached the quarterfinals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations despite suffering a 1-2 defeat to rivals Zambia at Al Madina Stadium in Rabat, Morocco last night.
The Scorchers reached last eight of the competition on their Wafcon finals debut as Group C leaders, and they were joined by Nigeria who defeated Egypt 5-2.
