The government has launched this year’s K140 billion Farm Inputs Subsidy Programme targeting 1, 221, 862 beneficiaries.
Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development Minister Roza Mbilizi presided over the launch at Kalira Primary School in Ntchisi District Thursday, when she announced the programme’s two reforms: Farmer organisations being used as the primary channel for beneficiary identification and input distribution; and the use of Mbeya fertiliser production alongside complementary sustainable land management practices.
Mbilizi said President Peter Mutharika had warned that the law would take its course against anyone who interferes with the management of the programme regardless of status. —Mana
