Stubborn Blue Eagles condemned FCB Nyasa Big Bullets to their third loss of the TNM Super League season with a 1-0 victory at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre Sunday.
It was a second successive loss in the 2025 TNM Super League for Bullets, and the third since the season started.
Bullets have now lost to rivals Mighty Wanderers 1-0 and Civil Service United 2-1.
Laurent Banda struck late in the second half as Eagles frustrated Bullets’ bid to reclaim the title.
Without their influential captain Lloyd ‘Banega’ Aaron, who has signed a deal with a Qatari club, Bullets were far from convincing.

Instead, it was Eagles who seemed to be at home as they launched a series of attacks, keeping Bullets on the backfoot.
Bullets goalkeeper Innocent Nyasulu and his defence were kept busy as Eagles threatened them at will.
On the other hand, Eagles goalkeeper Joshua Waka had the audacity to walk near the centre circle as the former champions struggled to create chances or launch meaningful moves.

In a bid to add life to his side, Bullets Coach Peter Mponda pulled out Peter Banda, Gasten Phodo and Dominic Musonda for Babatunde Adepoju, Lameck Gaphani and Henry Chiwaya, respectively.

Instead, it was Eagles who threatened as Bullets seemed to have run out of ideas to win the match.
The People’s Team defender Blessings Joseph was booked for pulling Eagles’ winger Micium Mhone, who was advancing towards the goal.
Mhone was a constant threat to Bullets’ defence and engineered the priceless goal when he set up Banda in the 79th minute.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Mponda admitted that his charges were below par.
“I am very disappointed with our performance. Today, we did not turn up. For 90 minutes, we only had one shot on target. We did not do anything to get a point from this match,” Mponda said.
His counterpart, De Klerk Msakakuona said they had a good game plan.
“It was a tough match but the good thing is that we won,” he said.
Following the loss, Bullets remain second with 27 points, six below leaders Mighty Wanderers, who have played 13 matches, one ahead of Bullets.
Eagles have moved to position four on the log table with 23 points from 13 matches.
