TNM Super League leaders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have launched an investigation into a suspected food poisoning that happened on Sunday.
Following the incident, some players and one official allegedly complained of stomach pains before and during their match against Creck Sporting Club at Aubrey Dimba Stadium in Mchinji District on Sunday. The People’s Team lost the match 2-0.
In an interview Tuesday, Bullets Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga confirmed that the club was investigating the alleged food poisoning.
“Three of our players and one official complained of stomach complications. We are waiting for the reports from the delegation that went to the game,” Chigoga said.
Bullets had been in Lilongwe since they defeated Kamuzu Barracks 2-0 in another TNM Super League match on Thursday. Chigoga said it was too early to conclude what happened. “We do not want to blame anyone at this stage. Let us wait for the reports first,” he said.

After the game, Bullets assistant coach Gilbert Chirwa said the loss was a wake-up call for them. “It is a lesson to us. We discuss with the boys and see what we can do,” Chirwa said.
Bullets remain top of the table with 56 points from 25 matches.
