The Centre for Social Concern (CfSC) has sounded an alarm over a sharp increase in maize prices.
A basic needs basket report published by the centre shows that between August and September 2025, the price of a 50-kilogramme (kg) bag of maize in Lilongwe jumped from K59,500 to K71,875, representing a 20.8 percent surge in just one month.
