Ndirande Anglican Voices will on Thursday share the stage with Jacaranda School for Orphans Troupe in a tribute concert to Vice President Saulos Chilima and eight others, who died in a tragic plane crash in Chikangawa Forest in Mzimba District.
The renowned gospel outfit, fresh from another tribute concert at Mibawa Multipurpose Hall in Blantyre, debuts at Sounds of Malawi Acoustic Session at Jacaranda Cultural Centre (JCC) in Blantyre.
Host of Sounds of Malawi Acoustic Session, Waliko Makhala, said yesterday that they thought it wise to hold a tribute concert to the nine patriots, who were laid to rest recently, as the country continues with the 21-day mourning period that President Lazarus Chakwera declared.
“We join the nation in paying tribute to our patriots lost in the tragic plane crash during this period of mourning.
“Ndirande Anglican voices and Jacaranda School Troupe are set to showcase their best as a living tribute to celebrate their lives and patriotism in Malawi,” Makhala, who is an ethno-musician, said.

Ndirande Anglican Voices’ lead vocalist Dennis Kalimbe said they were looking forward to giving people a treat during the concert.
“It feels good to perform at Jacaranda Cultural Centre together with the troupe. This also shows that people appreciate the messages we are spreading through gospel music,” he said.
Kalimbe said the concert means a lot to them in that during this period of mourning, they want to preach songs of hope.
“We are always ready to serve others as a group in times of need. It is in these trying moments that we need each other. So, as we comfort those who are mourning, we will also be preaching songs of encouragement and support,” he said.
