FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Head Coach, Wedson Nyirenda has questioned the certification of Dedza Stadium saying it is not fit to host elite league matches.
The Zambian coach made the remarks after his team played a barren stalemate against rookies, Luanar Mitundu Baptist in a FDH Bank Premiership at the stadium on Sunday.
After the game, Nyirenda pointed to the surface of the ground as a critical thing to be talked about for the development of Malawian football.
“There are critical things that we need to be talking and if we cannot, then what next for Malawian football?” Nyirenda asked.
“I am surprised that the senior most league to be played on such pitch. We found it difficult to play football in such pitches. It was so difficult for us to play, we came and we escorted the other team to play, they were enjoying, they can play in these pitches.”

Nyirenda also ranted at the officiation saying it was so disappointing.
“I am so disappointed with the officiating, that is not the way it should be,” Nyirenda said.
Meanwhile Ernest Mangani, Football Player Association of Malawi General Secretary said the association is supporting the concern raised by the coach.
“Apart from affecting the quality of the game, most grounds pose serious exposure to injuries on our members and we ask Fam [Football Association of Malawi] to take this seriously as we transform the game together,” he said.

Dedza Stadium manager Hastings Njonjo, said they do water the pitch but the hot weather makes it dry quickly.
“The ground is watered, but because of the heat it dries fast. We have already installed pipes for watering the ground and we are in the process of buying a booster pump to help the system provide better water pressure when watering. We water the ground every other day if Dedza Dynamos do not have training on it we do water the pitch. The challenge is that we do not have sprinklers, so we use pipes to water it,” he said.
Bullets are fourth on the log table with 27 points from 14 matches, two points off the top and behind Silver Strikers and Mighty Wanderers, and one point below third-placed Blue Eagles.
