Zimbabwe stunned hosts Malawi 2-1 in the opening match of the Three Nations Women’s Football Tournament at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe Friday.
A brace from Ethel Chinyerere in the first half was enough for the Mighty Warriors to secure a historic win over the Scorchers.
Faith Chimzimu pulled a goal back towards the end of the first half. The Scorchers will now focus on their second and final match against Zambia’s Copper Queens at the same venue on Sunday. In front of the home crowd, the Scorchers did not come to the party for the better part of the game.
