Deposed champions Kukoma Ntopwa have boosted their bid for a podium finish in the ongoing National Bank of Malawi (NBM) Women’s Premiership.
Ntopwa moved up to fourth position on 27 points after thrashing Moyale Barracks Sisters 4-0 at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe Township, Blantyre.
The team’s technical director Isaac ‘Jomo’ Osman said it was a tight race, but finishing in the top three would be an ideal consolation after losing the title.
“We are left with two games and breaking into the top three will not be easy. We need to win all our matches and then see what happens in other fixtures. Our current focus is on preparing the team to finish the season strongly,” he said.
Osman, who is also Blantyre City Mayor, said his charges had learnt valuable lessons from the season, which would be useful going forward.
