Celebrated singer, guitarist and producer Lawi is in France for a global conference for musicians, composers and filmmakers.
Lawi said Wednesday that, apart from the global meet, he is set to visit a few countries to do masterclasses and presentations.
“This is just the beginning of more things to come. For now, I will not say much because of contractual obligations,” he said.
The artist said—during the launch of his fourth album My Father’s Land in Blantyre last month—that he was sharing his music with the world.
“In the past few years, I have done some sound design and film scoring work in two films that made it onto the international film scene. So, I am building something,” Lawi said after attending the Festival International Music and Cinema Marseille in France.

He said he was looking forward to engaging more composers, producers, arrangers and distribution companies for both music and films.
“When you work on an album, you do not just throw it to the people; you also have to take time to build a friendship with the people. So, this is what I am doing now,” Lawi said.
Lawi said the 18-track album, which was produced by himself at his studio in Lilongwe and has tracks such as ‘Day Time’ and ‘Titani Nawo Anawa’, was a story of an artist from Malawi in Africa taking it to the world.
“My Father’s Land is a colourful musical journey with distinctive iconic African voices. Within it, you find a blend of life, music and identity infused with great depth of emotion and artistry. From Malawi, the Warm Heart of Africa, welcome to Africa,” he said.
