A team from the Southern Africa Development Community Development Finance Resource Centre (Sadc-DFRC) is expected to provide training to local Development Finance Institutions (DFI) and export-oriented traders on modern and innovative ways for offering and accessing export credit financing next week.
It will be held in collaboration with the Export Development Fund (EDF)
A statement issued by the EDF indicates that export credit finance is becoming more important as the country works towards expanding its export trade base.
“Malawi needs sound and strong export credit finance functions to enable export trade in a safe, value adding and sustainable manner. This requires constant investment in skills and capacities,” the statement reads.
EDF Managing Director Fredrick Chanza said the training is one of the key investments that the country needs to understand export credit finance schemes and instruments that can support Malawi’s export development.

“This will strengthen partnerships and collaboration for a unified export credit finance system in Malawi, which can generate better results than when institutions are working in isolation. We are calling on all interested institutions to take advantage of this training,” Chanza said.
