Malawi National Football Team Thursday started preparations for a friendly against Botswana as part of the 61st independence celebrations.
The two teams will meet at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday, with Flames coach Kalisto Pasuwa naming a home-based 25-man squad for the match.
Pasuwa has kept faith in 17 players who participated in last month’s Hollywoodbets Cosafa Cup in South Africa where they finished bottom of their group with just one point in three matches.
Among the recalled players is FCB Nyasa Bullets Reserves midfielder Oscar Petro who made his debut at the regional tournament against Angola.
Other players who have also been given a chance are Blue Eagles goalkeeper Joshua Waka, Wanderers defender Emmanuel Nyirenda, Civil Service United midfielder Moses Banda, striker Blessings Mwalilino of Mighty Wanderers and Frank Willard, an FCB Nyasa Big Bullets midfielder.
