Flames and Amazulu striker Frank Gabadihno Mhango has emerged as a potential target for SuperSport United as coach Gavin Hunt is looking for a reunion with the Malawian.
South African media FarPost yesterday reported that SuperSport are bolstering their squad ahead of their participation in the 2023 Caf Confederation Cup.
“They will need to bolster their squad so they have a well-balanced team that is able to challenge. The Malawi international has continental experience following his stints with Bidvest Wits and Orlando Pirates,’’ reported the publication.
According to FarPost, SuperSport chairperson Stan Mathews also underscored the importance of bolstering their squad.
“Playing in Africa. I am going to need two to three extra players. I cannot expect the kids to come and play in Africa. So, the three extra decent players are going to cost me R4 to R6 million,’’ he was quoted as saying.

Mhango and Hunt are no strangers to each other having worked together at Wits for three years.
At Wits, the former FCB Bullets striker made 67 appearances in all competitions and 15 goals and provided six assists.
He played one of his best football at Wits and helped the team win their first ever league title in 2016/17.
SuperSport are expected to part ways with Thamsanga Gabuza.

However, Mhango’s future is still uncertain at Amazulu.
Mhango was not readily available for his comment yesterday.
South Africa-based Malawian journalist Benjamin Nyirenda said Mhango would be a perfect fit for SuperSport.
Mhango struggled towards the end of last season due to injuries. He is still out for three months.
The Malawian won the Premier Soccer League Golden Boot Award when he scored 16 goals alongside Namibian striker Peter Shalulile in 2020.
