Malawians based at home and in the United States, going by the name The Patriots, have donated medical equipment worth K2.5 billion to Kasungu District Hospital.
The Patriots Board Chairperson Chris Kang’oma said the items would help improve service delivery.
“We are very committed to supporting the health sector in the country. Through our leadership, we plan to provide at least 100 containers of medical equipment to 100 health centres across the country by 2030,” he said.
Kang’oma urged Malawians to adopt a culture of giving instead of always relying on external assistance.

“We are calling on other groups within and outside the country to do the same. Together, we, as Malawians, can make a difference,” he said.
On his part, Kasungu District Health Office Director Emmanuel Golombe described the donation as timely.
“This support comes at the right time and will go a long way in addressing some of the critical challenges that are faced in our healthcare system,” Golombe said.
Meanwhile, Kasungu District Commissioner James Kanyangalazi has said the equipment will be used effectively.
