Football Legends Association (FLA) has a shortfall of K58 million to achieve its target of raising K250 million ahead of the annual general meeting (AGM) and gala night in Lilongwe this coming weekend.
FLA Board Member Kinnah Phiri disclosed this after the association received K5 million from Simama Hotels and K3 million from Austo Brake and Clutch in Lilongwe on Tuesday.
Phiri was optimistic on chances of raising the balance before this coming weekend.
“We have received an overwhelming response from the corporate world. We are confident that other companies and individuals will support our initiatives,” Phiri said.
Phiri hailed the two companies for the “timely support”, saying it would go a long way in alleviating the challenges the association faces.

Simama Operations Director Fiskani Kazembe said they were excited to support the legends’ body.
“We have a good relationship with the association. We value the legends’ contributions towards Malawi football,” Kazembe said.
Meanwhile, Austo and Clutch Managing Director Austin Kasito said the donation was part of efforts to give back to the football community.
