MultiChoice Malawi has called on young people in the country to submit their applications to stand a chance of participating in the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) 2024 cohort whose deadline is Friday.
MTF called for applications on June 19 2023.
“I encourage aspiring television and film industry creatives looking to take their careers to the next level to visit the MTF portal to not only submit but explore the free educational resources that are on offer as well,” MultiChoice Malawi Corporate Affairs Manager Zena Makunje said.
Makunje said Malawi has done well so far with its graduates, namely Jonathan Kapumba, Chimwemwe Mkwezalamba, Mphatso Makamo, Chisomo Livason, Elsante Mbaimbai and Chisomo Kawaga.
“The recipients of the previous cohort were also involved in the production of the Kulemera series, a Malawian comedy series. So, this is a chance for young people to participate and build their careers in filmmaking and television,” she said.

Now approaching its sixth year, MTF is open to all emerging filmmakers with either some industry experience or a relevant post-school qualification to apply for the opportunity to hone television and film production skills.
MTF Academy curriculum combines film studies such as directing, sound design, the business of film, to name a few, with workplace experience on M-Net’s top productions.
The 12-month fully-funded programme is open to candidates from Southern, Western and East African countries which is under the leadership of three academy directors, Atinuke Babatunde (West Africa hub), Victoria Goro (East Africa hub) and Christopher Puta (Southern Africa hub).
Makunje said MultiChoice Africa is committed to building and sustaining the training-to-employment pipeline within Africa’s film and television industry, adding that the initiative also aims for a 60/40 split in favour of women since its inception.
