The TNM Super League match between giants Silver Strikers and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers grossed K33 million in gate revenue.
The two teams locked horns at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday, with the hosts winning 2-0.
This is the second highest amount to be realised from a match between Super League teams this season after the Blantyre derby involving FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Wanderers grossed K80.4 million at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre early this month.
The figure is slightly higher than what was realised during a second round meeting between Silver and Wanderers last season at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe which grossed K30 million.
Both clubs said they could have realised much more on Sunday had security been tight at the gates.

Silver Chief Executive Officer Patrick Chimimba said some people forced their way into the stadium.
“We indeed recorded the highest revenue ever at this stadium on Sunday. Of course the figure could have been more than the K33 million. But there were security lapses that allowed some people to force the gates open on more than three occasions.
“We can attribute the improved gate revenue to our teams’ performance this season. Aggressive pre-sale strategies also contributed to this record revenue. From pre-sales alone, we managed to rake in K11 million. This is a very good development as it shows that people are now embracing pre-selling of match tickets,” Chimimba said.
He said they expect the good attendance to continue at all their matches as the team is performing well.

Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Panganeni Ndovi concurred with Chimimba, saying the security lapses had an effect.
“We could have made more money if everyone who watched the match had paid. But several people watched the match for free because of lapses in security,” Ndovi said.
The two teams went home with K7.1 million each as their 25 percent cut.
Ground owners also pocketed K7.1 million whereas Football Association of Malawi and Super League of Malawi got K2.8 million each.
An open stand ticket was going at K5,000 whereas spectators wanting to sit at the VIP stand were paying K10, 000.
Silver won the match 2-0 with goals from Chikondi Kamanga and Zebron Kalima.
The win saw the Central Bankers opening a six-point gap at the summit of the log table with 19 points from seven matches, above second-placed Bullets.
